Jim Hasenauer, Ph.D. Biography
Jim Hasenauer is the Vice-Chair of the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. He has served as its public member since 2009.
He is a Professor Emeritus of Communication Studies at California State University Northridge where he taught from 1979-2011. He lives in Woodland Hills, California.
A passionate bicyclist, Hasenauer was one of the founders of CORBA, the Concerned Off Road Bicyclists Association and IMBA, the International Mountain Bicycling Association. A lover of trails, he has published two mountain bike guidebooks to the Santa Monica Mountains. In 1998, Hasenauer was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame for his advocacy.
He has served in leadership positions on the California Trails and Greenways Foundation, the California Recreational Trails Committee and the California Roundtable on Recreation, Parks and Tourism which created and promotes the California Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights.
