Dan Paranick Biography
Dan Paranick was hired by the Board of Directors as the District Manager of the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District in August of 2018 after a 25-year career in county and city government.
Prior to his tenure at the Park District, Dan served as Interim City Manager and Assistant City Manager with the cities of Ventura, Camarillo, and Simi Valley, and gained experience working in parks and recreation early in his career. Dan earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Arizona State University, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from UCLA.
As District Manager, Dan oversees the day-to-day operations of the Park District which encompasses the communities of both Simi Valley and Oak Park, manages an annual budget of of $35 million, nearly 600 full and part-time employees, and an equal number of volunteers. The District owns and manages 7,600 acres of open space and 80 miles of trails.
Dan was raised in the mountains in the Mono County area of the Eastern Sierras among the best that nature and wildlife has to offer. Dan has been a resident of Simi Valley for 20 years with his wife Samantha and his two daughters Emma and Kendall.
